was born in Berkeley, California and grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. He spent many years in the woods of Sparta, New Jersey (an hour away from NYC) with his lovely wife Margaret, his super-genius daughter Marea, and bears...creepy, creepy bears. At the moment they're living in Cocoa Beach, Florida (less bears)...and don't know where they're going next.

For over twenty-five years, Rhett has made his living writing and illustrating children's picture books and designing toys. His first book, Excuse Me, Are You a Dragon?, became a musical puppet show for StoneLion Puppet Theatre--he wrote the script and lyrics. All his books have been published by Greene Bark Press.

Rhett was an inhouse illustrator/industrial designer for Shelcore Toys for 5+ years. Now he's a freelance contractor for Fisher-Price, Funrise, Spinmaster and other international toy companies. Toys he's designed and packaging he's illustrated have been seen in Walmart, Toys R Us, and stores all over the world.

As an artist and designer, Rhett has worked on all kinds of projects-- maybe the next one will be yours! Thank you for visiting his website.

(Oh...Rhett used to be a professional actor. During his acting days he did lots of strange things--everything from playing 12-year old boys on national theatre tours, to being a prisoner on the HBO drama "Oz," to being  a hand double for Ethan Hawke. But the worst was appearing in a really bad infomercial for a call-in dating service. He apologizes to anyone who saw it.)
